Notorious landmark Ain Dubai is becoming infamous for all the wrong reasons – the iconic structure that’s been under refurbishment and maintenance works since last year has now announced it will be closed until further notice.
Opened in October 2021, the site has had a history of openings and swift closures while the engineering team battle technical issues. The giant Ferris wheel towers over Blue Water Island at more than 250m, and during opening periods was a huge hit with residents and tourists alike.
The largest Ferris wheel in the world, it tops the famous London Eye which is only 135m high, the wheel was originally closed in March 2022 but was due to reopen for Eid Al Fitr this year. The latest statement on their website reads, “We continue to rigorously work on completing the enhancement works that have been taking place over the past months.” While an official reopening date has yet to be announced, a further statement said that they will announce it, and that, “In line with our commitment to offering guests an experience unlike any other, we look forward to introducing new and exciting offers when we reopen Ain Dubai for visitors to enjoy from across the globe.”
