It’s Official – Dubai is Booming: The Population has Surpassed 3.567 Million People

Dubai’s population has increased by 50,000 people in the first 6 months of 2023.

We know that Dubai is the city of exponential growth, and one that continues to astound us daily with its ingenuity and innovation – but it seems as though the rest of the world is catching on too.

For the first time the population has surpassed 3.6 million people, up from the previous 3.55 million. According to data from Dubai Statistics Centre, at the end of 2022 the population was 3.55 million and then saw rapid growth, with 50,000 people arriving in the first six months of 2023, which represents 1.5% growth.

The end of the first quarter of 2023 saw the population hit 3.567 million people, showing a 1 per cent growth in the months from January to March. These numbers are a hint of what’s to come, as Dubai continues to attract foreign investors and workers from all over the world. It’s become known for its tax-free salaries, enticing property prices, and lack of capital gains tax, among other things.

It’s also part of the Dubai Government’s wider vision to make it the best city in the world to live in.

The government has even thought out an Urban Plan to accommodate all the newbies, which covers an estimated increase of 5.8 million people, making the total residents 7.8 million people by 2040. The plan includes new facilities such as parks and recreational areas (a 105% increase), plus space for educational and health facilities (25%), plus industrial and economic activities (1.7 billion square feet) and of course more efforts for hospitality and tourism (134% projected growth).

We can only wonder what our fair city will come up with next.
