UAE Announces Eid Al Fitr Holiday for Public Sector

The sector will enjoy a 9-day break for Eid.

The UAE Cabinet has officially declared a one-week holiday for the public sector in celebration of Eid Al Fitr. Government workers can enjoy their holidays from Monday, April 8th, until Sunday, April 14th. Normal working hours will resume on Monday, April 15th, following the conclusion of the holiday period.

Federal government workers in the UAE will enjoy a nine-day break to celebrate Eid Al Fitr, which marks the end of the month-long fasting period. This extended holiday includes the official weekend days of Saturday and Sunday, allowing employees to fully immerse themselves in the festivities and spend quality time with their families.

Regardless of the moon sighting, the holiday will officially commence on April 8th. Following the Islamic calendar, Ramadan spans either 29 or 30 days, contingent upon the lunar sighting. Eid Al Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, falls on the first day of Shawwal, the subsequent month.

As the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan draws near, anticipation builds in the UAE as residents prepare to observe the longest public holiday of the year. Time to get your travel plans in order.
