Get ready to go as there’s a brand new hiking track now open in Dubai’s Mushrif Park – perfect for those who love nothing more than an extended outdoor stroll through nature. Now the winter season is finally here. It’s the perfect time to enjoy the wildlife of the UAE in cooler temperatures and without travelling too far from the comfort of your own home.

The track itself is 10km and open to the public at Dubai’s Mushrif National Park, and is welcome to hikers of all standards and abilities and the track is open 12 months of the year.

It’s made with every comfort in mind as there are public restrooms along the way, safety guidance and instructions, plus signage and maps with direction so you can plan your route. There are also convenient rest areas, plus sculptures, stairways, bridges and slopes – perfect if you need to take a short break or snap some pics for your social media. These are also great spots to spot some of the region’s flora, fauna, and wildlife.

What’s prohibited in the area is starting fires for camping or cooking, camping overnight of any sort, or smoking, and children under 15 years must be accompanied by an adult.

The park was originally opened in 1974 and is the OG of Dubai’s park areas, as it sprawls across 35,000 square metres of lush Ghaf tree forest with more than 70,000 trees having been planted. There’s also a 5km jogging track which welcomes joggers, walkers and cyclists, plus two 25-metre swimming pools, a basketball, volleyball and handball courts, so you’re really spoilt for choice and can easily spend a full day or two sampling all the activities available.

The jewel in the crown however, is the Aventura Nature Adventure Park, which is hidden amongst the dense foliage and Ghaf trees, but features an exciting high rope adventure course with obstacles – made for the thrill seekers! There are more than 85 challenges for all age and competency levels, with circuits over five different levels with varying heights. You can also zoom your way down the longest series of tree-top zip lines in the region.

Tickets here are an individual fee separate from the park entrance fee – which is only AED 3 on foot and AED 10 by car, and make sure you have your NOL car to make the payment.

There’s also a dedicated children’s play area, BBQ spots, several restaurants and food truck style canteens with varying cuisine, plus a horse stables for equine lovers, a train ride, and even camel riding.

Time to get back to that fitness routine.
