The Insider Reviews: Mediterranean-inspired Hotspot Bar Du Port

If you’re looking for a dining experience that will delight all your senses, then look no further than Bar Du Port.  

The environment in this beautiful restaurant, which is tucked away in the Dubai Harbour Pier Club in the Dubai Marina, is wonderful. It gives stunning views of the harbour and the shorelines of some of Dubai’s most prominent hotels. When we arrived, the welcoming staff greeted us with a smile and immediately made us feel at home. We were delighted to take in the views of the skyline and the ocean when we were shown to our outside seating. As we settled in, we were struck by the ambiance – a perfect blend of luxury and comfort.

The décor of Bar Du Port is simple but elegant, with a focus on natural materials making it feel very bohemian. The walls are adorned with lush greenery and the lighting is soft and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a romantic dinner, a relaxed meal with friends or when the DJ starts, a great venue to party the night away especially at the weekends.

But it’s not just the ambiance that makes Bar Du Port special – the food is out of this world, serving an array of Mediterranean dishes. The starters were simply exquisite, and they set the tone for what was to come. The canary sea-bass tartare was light and refreshing and perfectly marinated in a coloured capsicum confit, mango, coriander and bergamot oil that made it one of the best I have ever tasted.

A fresh take on a traditional salad was the melon and cheese salad. The combination of flavors was heavenly, with the sweet melon contrasting beautifully with the salty cheese. Another outstanding dish was the Josper-grilled baby squid that was presented on a bed of salsa. The salsa added a lovely acidity to balance the dish, and the squid was soft and cooked beautifully.

The green beans served with crispy bresaola were an ideal complement to the starters. The beans were al dente, with a nice crispy texture that was expertly balanced by the bresaola. It was the perfect dish to whet the appetite for the mains that were to come.

For the main course we couldn’t resist trying the flaming salt encrusted sea bass. This dish was a true spectacle – the sea bass was baked inside a salt crust, which was then flambéed table-side creating a dramatic flame that enveloped the dish. Once the salt was cracked open the server brought back the tender, succulent Seabass, which was expertly cooked and seasoned with lemon oil.

The black Angus rib-eye was also a highlight. The meat was cooked to perfection making it tender and juicy and we also tried the linguini with creamy parmesan and black truffle which was equally as tasty. This was all washed down with a beautifully paired Merlot recommended by our waiter. We tried the passion fruit Crème Brulée to end the meal since it was a great balance of sour and sweet. The Brulée’s top was flawlessly caramelised and gave way to a smooth, delicious custard underneath. It was the ideal way to cap off a fantastic meal.

Throughout the evening the staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring that we had everything we needed. They were knowledgeable about the menu, offering suggestions and answering any questions we had. The service was prompt and efficient, yet never intrusive, allowing us to savour each dish at our own pace.

Overall, this venue is a must-visit for anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. The food is expertly crafted, with flavours and presentation that delight the senses. The staff are attentive and friendly, making guests feel at home. Whether you’re looking for a romantic night out, a celebratory meal with friends or a great setting to dance the night away, Bar Du Port is the perfect choice. We can’t wait to go back and experience it all over again.
