Dubai Just Opened the World’s Tallest Hotel… With a Wingsuit Stunt Through the Sky

Ciel Dubai Marina marks its arrival with a gravity-defying aerial spectacle.

If you thought Dubai had officially run out of ways to outdo itself… think again. Because Ciel Dubai Marina didn’t just open its doors, it’s planning to tear a hole in the actual sky.

To mark the arrival of the world’s tallest hotel, Ciel teamed up with XDubai and the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) for an opening spectacle that was less ribbon-cutting, more jaw-dropping: a full-blown wingsuit ballet staged hundreds of metres above Dubai Marina. Yes, really.

As if wingsuits weren’t enough, there was a whole team doing a choreographed performance.

Five elite XDubai wingsuit athletes took to the skies in a precision formation flight, with one daredevil lead athlete flying straight through Ciel’s dramatic architectural centrepiece — aptly nicknamed the “eye of the needle” — at speeds exceeding 200 km/h. Casual. The rest of the team followed in synchronised style, releasing coordinated colour trails that painted the skyline in pure adrenaline.

Standing tall at a dizzying 377 metres and spanning 82 floors, Ciel Dubai Marina is officially rewriting the rules of elevated living. Think striking architecture, immersive dining, and views so good they deserve their own postcode. The opening stunt perfectly mirrored the hotel’s ethos: bold, boundary-pushing and unapologetically extra.

Looking out of your office window might have revealed something unusual sights during the wingsuit show.

Captured by a custom FPV drone, the cinematic footage delivers gravity-defying angles you simply couldn’t see from the ground — proving once again that in Dubai, even hotel launches come with blockbuster production value.

Standard hotel openings are so old school; now it’s all about death-defying stunts.

Inside, the ambition continues. Ciel will house 1,004 rooms and suites with floor-to-ceiling windows, the world’s highest infinity pool, a luxury spa opening in April 2026, a sky-high gym on the 61st floor, and guest access to Soluna Beach Club on Palm Jumeirah.

Foodies, you’re also in for a treat. The hotel will debut eight dining concepts including Mediterranean hotspot West 13, East Asian-inspired East 14, homegrown favourite Risen Café, and the UAE debut of cult UK brand Tattu — complete with multi-level restaurant, bar, sky pool and lounge.

Developed and managed by The First Group as part of IHG’s Vignette Collection, Ciel Dubai Marina blends boutique personality with global polish.
