100 Million USD Pledged to Lebanon by UAE Ruler

The UAE’s president demonstrated the country’s commitment to supporting neighbouring nations in conflict.

In a critical move for Lebanon, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, has stepped in with a $100 million urgent relief package. According to Emirates News Agency (WAM), this gesture highlights the UAE’s enduring dedication to supporting Lebanon through its ongoing crises.

As the Israel-Gaza conflict spills into Lebanon, the situation has escalated rapidly. Since attacks began on September 27, 2024, there have already been over 1,000 tragic casualties, with countless more injured and many civilians forced to flee their homes.

Imran Riza, the UN’s top aid official in Lebanon, described the current situation as “the deadliest period in Lebanon in a generation,” expressing fears that this might only be the beginning.

This is not the first time the UAE has extended a helping hand. Following Israel’s declaration of war on Palestine on October 9, 2023, the UAE also provided over AED 73 million in humanitarian aid to Palestine, reinforcing its strong commitment to the region’s stability and relief efforts.
