Four Days Off? Here’s How Eid Al Fitr 2026 is Shaping Up in Dubai

Everything you need to know about the upcoming long weekend.

By now, Ramadan is in full swing, and that means one big question is on everyone’s mind: how long is the Eid Al Fitr break going to be this year?

Good news first: all signs are pointing to a four-day weekend in Dubai.

So what’s happening with the dates?

Eid Al Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and the start of Shawwal in the Islamic Hijri calendar. Because the Islamic calendar follows the lunar cycle, the exact timing depends on the sighting of the crescent moon — which determines whether Ramadan lasts 29 or 30 days.

Under UAE public holiday law, Eid Al Fitr is officially either a three- or four-day break. The deciding factor? Whether Ramadan completes 29 or 30 days.

Scenario one: Ramadan lasts 30 days

If the month runs the full 30 days, the final day of Ramadan (Thursday March 19) becomes part of the Eid holiday. The break would then continue through:

  • Friday March 20 (Shawwal 1)
  • Saturday March 21 (Shawwal 2)
  • Sunday March 22 (Shawwal 3)

That’s four consecutive days off.

Either way, the timing works in our favour.

Moon sighting confirmation will come closer to the date, but for now, it’s safe to start planning that long weekend.
