10 Fun Things to do in October Apart from Halloween

Spooky season is here, but there’s lots happening in the UAE aside from All Hallows Eve…

October heralds the official start of the winter (and party season), and there’s so much happening this month we’ve done a little round up for you of the most unmissable things.

  1. Get your Shop on at a New Mall in DAMAC Hills

DAMAC Hills is becoming one of the most popular communities a little further out of the city, and fortunately for residents there’s a brand new 110,000-square-foot mall where you can visit 30 shops and 10 food and beverage outlets, including Papa John’s, Vietnamese Foodies and Lingo Play Area. Officially opening on the 2nd of October.

  1. Watch Matilda The Musical

Pop over to Dubai Opera from October 3rd to the 12th and watch Matilda, Miss Honey, Miss Trunchbull and all the cast as they sing, dance and jauntility take you through various hits and classics that will have you dancing in the aisles. Tickets start at AED 325.

  1. Sample Lucia’s New Menu

Gorgeous Italian restaurant Lucia’s situated in the Address Sky Views and they have a brand spanking new menu. Guests can feast on Sea bass Carpaccio with Sundried Tomatoes and Blood Orange, plus Fresh Red Prawns with vegetable Caponata and Toasted Almonds. For sweet endings there’s traditional Italian Profiteroles and a Panna Cotta with frutti di bosco. Book from Sunday-Friday 7pm-3am, Saturday 1:30pm-5pm, 7:30pm-3am. 

  1. Try a New Ladies’ Night at En Fuego

In a city packed with choices for ladies’ nights, we love the offering from En Fuego on the Palm. Every Thursday night between 9am and 1am you and your girl gang can get a two-course meal, three house drinks, and live entertainment for only AED 195.

  1. Get your Adventure on at Hatta Wadi Hub

Adventure junkies rejoice as the cooler weather brings the reopening of Hatta Wadi Dub – with new activities added. Choose between zip-lining, mountain biking, rock climbing or zorbing, and you can stay overnight at some of the super cool glamping facilities and trailers nestled deep within the rocky mountains. 

6. Go to Aquaventure After Dark

We love nothing more than a fun day out at a waterpark, and this year Aquaventure is bringing back their super popular After Dark. Starting on Saturday 7th October the park party involves live entertainment, music, food stalls, and epic lighting to accompany your slip and slides. Ticket prices are TBC but full details will be announced soon on the Atlantis website, and the event will be hosted every Saturday from 7pm onwards.

  1. Kids Eat Free at The Surf Café by Leen’s

Healthy homegrown restaurant Leen’s has a new promo where kids eat free (under 12s) so the whole family can enjoy their fresh salads, sushi bowls, poke bowls, bowls, sweet treats, and selection of coffee. Kids even get their own special menu to choose from. This offer is available everyday until the end of October from 8:30am-10:30pm in Jumeirah Beach Road.

  1. Party at Defected Dubai

Longtime musical favourites Defected Records is hosting a three-day house music festival with the Dunmore Brothers, Groove Armada, Hannah Wants, Roger Sanchez, and many more. Tickets start at AED 200 from Friday 13th-15th at various locations including Soul Beach.

  1. Enjoy Hand Pulled Noodles at Ripe Market

Fusion Pulled Hand Noodles by San Wan opens on Sunday October 15th at the Ripe Market at Dubai Police Academy serving dishes every weekend throughout the winter from 9pm onwards. Expect each dish to have an international flavour and brings something different to the usual market fare. Ripe Market is open Saturdays from 9am-9pm and Sundays from 9am-7pm.

  1. Party with Craig David at Barasti

Internationally acclaimed British singer Craig David will be performing at Barasti on October 21st. Giving you the chance to dance and sing along to his popular hits like ‘7 Days’ and ‘DNA’ while sipping drinks and dipping your toes in the sand, you can also get early bird tickets for just AED 150 on the dxbeats.ae website. From 6pm till late.
