UAE Issues Orange Weather Alert

Hazardous weather surprises residents as rain falls across the region.

Residents are warned today to be on the alert in the roads and public spaces as unexpected rainfall has been noted across the country. Rains, clouds, humidity, and dense fog have also been reported in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Fujairah, and Sharjah this morning.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued an orange alert for parts of Abu Dhabi, which urges residents to be on the alert and comply with the advice issued by the authorities as the weather is expected to continue into Monday evening.

The NCM’s weather forecast for the rest of the week includes a cloudy and dusty Tuesday with rainfall over the southern and eastern areas, plus moderate winds increasing the chance for sandstorms. The rest of the week it will be dry but windy, causing more dust – could wreak havoc on those outdoor weekend plans!

Due to the changes in weather the Ministry of Interiors introduced new traffic fines to improve road safety, which includes drivers who enter flooded valleys and those who obstruct emergency vehicles.
