Dubai Steps Up: Residents Impacted by the Weather to Receive Food, Aid & Shelter Post Storm

Residents struggling to recover after the recent floods receive government aid.

In response to the recent devastating storm in Dubai, affected residents will receive support from the government to help them recover. HH Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, has approved a series of measures aimed at providing relief to those in need. Free alternative housing, along with food and other essential services, will be offered to those who have been most severely affected by the unprecedented rainfall. The storm has caused significant damage to infrastructure and homes in many neighbourhoods across the city, making the government’s assistance crucial for thousands of residents trying to rebuild their lives.

Amid flooded roads, Dubai is distributing food to hard-hit areas and local businesses are offering free meals and water. The Dubai Land Department and RERA are collaborating with property developers to accelerate community restoration alongside providing free housing and additional housing services for affected residents.

List of service provided:

  • Alternative housing for residents affected by the weather
  • Distribution of food within affected communities
  • Comprehensive pest control services
  • Enhanced security to ensure safety of residents
  • Assistance with returning to residential properties including interior cleaning services
  • Monitoring and documenting damages caused by the rains during the insurance coverage period
  • Assistance in assessing potential risks to properties

Sheikh Hamdan instructed the establishment of a support committee, led by Omar Bushahab, CEO of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment, and comprised of members from various Dubai entities including the Community Development Authority, Dubai Municipality, Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, and Department of Economy and Tourism.
