Sun Siyam Olhuveli Maldives is a genuine tropical paradise, comprising three separate, but connected islands, that promise an unforgettable escape into luxury and serenity. My recent visit to this idyllic resort left me captivated by its pristine beauty, impeccable service, and myriad indulgent experiences.
Upon arrival, the resort welcomed me with the warm embrace of turquoise waters and powdery white sands, whilst experiencing a friendly Maldivian welcome by the team when stepping off the boat, following our short 40-minute transfer from the airport.
Check in was trouble free, with the exciting news that we had in fact been upgraded to the Presidential Water Suite. What a treat! The overwater bungalows, perched elegantly above the lagoon, offered panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, creating a sense of unparalleled tranquillity. Perched at the head of the overwater villas, this vast 2-bedroom suite offered us complete privacy, in a luxurious and very spacious environment, with an unbroken view of the Indian Ocean and its beautiful sunsets from our own private pool. Each walk to and from the resort offered the exciting opportunity to witness the amazing abundance of marine life that you share the island with, from black-tipped sharks, stingrays, myriad vibrant colourful fish species and the occasional guitar fish! For those who prefer a speedier transit there is the option of a resort buggy, but for us, walking provided opportunities to be closer to the amazing variety of flora and fauna of this beautiful resort.
The Sun Siyam Olhuveli prides itself on its commitment to personalised service, and from the moment we arrived at the island, it was evident. The staff, with their genuine smiles and attentive demeanour, made me feel not just like a guest, but like a cherished member of an exclusive community. True Maldivian hospitality. Whether it was the housekeeping team ensuring the immaculate condition of our extravagant villa or the concierge arranging curated excursions, every detail was handled with consideration and tailored to each guest’s needs.
Dining at The Sun Siyam Olhuveli left you spoiled for choice. The resort boasts a diverse range of culinary options, from casual beachfront dining to fine dining experiences. Each meal was a culinary journey, with a fusion of local Maldivian flavours and international cuisine. The freshness of the seafood and the creativity of the chefs were truly commendable, making every dining experience a memorable event.
For those seeking relaxation and rejuvenation, the resort’s Sun Spa was a sanctuary of well-being. Nestled amidst lush tropical gardens, the spa offered a range of holistic treatments that combined traditional Maldivian techniques with modern wellness practices. The skilled therapists and the serene ambiance created an oasis of calm, providing a perfect escape from the stresses of everyday life.
The Sun Siyam Olhuveli also caters to adventure seekers, with an array of water sports and excursions. Snorkelling in the crystal-clear lagoon, diving in vibrant coral reefs, or embarking on a sunset cruise – each activity was an opportunity to explore the natural wonders of the Maldives.
Our visit to The Sun Siyam Olhuveli was nothing short of a dreamy tropical escape, especially given our upgraded villa and the absolute privacy that it afforded us – although each and every villa on this group of islands offers each guest their own slice of seclusion and paradise. The resort’s commitment to luxury, exceptional service, and the stunning natural beauty of the Maldives combined to create an experience that certainly exceeded our expectations.
