Charging your car is about to get a whole lot easier.
Parkin, Dubai’s largest paid public parking provider, has teamed up with DEWA (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority) to install new EV charging stations at on-street parking spots across the city.
How It Works
- Where? Charging points will be added to Zones A & C, high-density areas where access to chargers is currently limited.
- Power Capacity? Each station will operate on 22-kilowatt alternating current and can serve two parking spaces at a time.
- When? The first wave of chargers will be rolled out by the end of Q1 2025, with a goal of 1,000 stations by year-end.
- Easy Payment? Charge your EV and pay for parking seamlessly via the Parkin app and digital wallet.
Why It Matters
With Dubai’s rapid shift toward sustainable mobility, these chargers aim to encourage EV adoption by making charging more accessible and convenient.
Eng. Mohamed Al Ali, CEO of Parkin, shared:
“The installation of green chargers in key locations will enhance our world-class facilities, unlock new opportunities for growth, and incentivise EV adoption.”
New parking rates for both on-street and off-street parking in Dubai are also set to roll out in April 2025.
There are already charging stations are various parking spots, but these new on-road varieties will make it easier for drivers to recharge on the go.
