All Aboard the Hype Train – Next Stop Is Effortless High-speed Travel Across the UAE

Here’s what your Etihad Rail journey from Dubai could look like.

The long-awaited Etihad Rail passenger service is finally gathering momentum, and judging by the latest sneak peeks, this is one journey we’re more than happy to get on board with.

Set to roll out later this year, Etihad Rail is poised to transform the way we travel across the UAE, linking every emirate via a sleek, high-speed network that promises to take the stress out of road trips and put the joy back into the journey. And now, fresh footage has given us a tantalising preview of what that ride could actually look like.

Earlier this month, Etihad Rail released images of Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim of Dubai Police travelling between Dubai and Fujairah — offering a first-class glimpse into one of the headline routes expected to launch in the network’s opening phase.

Skip the traffic – ride the rail in style instead.

From Dubai to Fujairah, full steam ahead

The first passenger services will connect Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah, with regular trains running between Jumeirah Golf Estates and Al Hilal City, via Mohammed bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi. With trains expected to reach speeds of up to 200km/h, this is one journey that’s clearly built for fast tracks, not traffic jams.

Inside the carriage, it’s already clear this isn’t your average commute. Seating appears spacious and thoughtfully designed, largely arranged in a 2–1 configuration, with tables for groups — perfect for working, unwinding, or simply watching the landscape fly by.

Comfort that’s miles ahead

While full onboard details are still pulling into the station, Etihad Rail has confirmed a line-up of plush seating, air conditioning, charging ports, entertainment systems and free Wi-Fi. Add in a partnership with Italian luxury rail specialist Arsenale, and it’s safe to say this journey is leaning more towards boutique hotel on rails than basic transport.

A previous preview shared in 2025 by National Experts Program participant Sarah Adel Luqman described the experience as “seamless comfort” with “breathtaking views” — praise that puts Etihad Rail firmly on the fast track to becoming the UAE’s most anticipated way to travel.

The route ahead

The first phase of the network will connect 11 cities, stretching from Al Sila in the west to Fujairah in the east, linking major hubs including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Al Ruwais.

Ticket prices are yet to be announced, though payment options are expected to include the nol card, making hopping on and off the network as smooth as the ride itself.

Once Etihad Rail officially departs the platform, cross-country travel in the UAE is set to enter a whole new era — and honestly, we’re ready to ride the rails.
