Weekly Hotlist: Things to do this Week October 2nd
Bringing you the definitive hotlist of spas, brunches, dining, sporting events, vacations and more across the city and beyond.
Dine at Signor Sassi
Famed Italian restaurant Signor Sassis has finally opened its doors in our fair desert city. In the stunning St. Regis Gardens the dining area features glorious opulence with glittering chandeliers, mirrored ceilings, and intricately detailed coral marble, for an aesthetic that is rich, decadent, and screams old money. The food is equally divine and among their homemade pastas features one of our team favourites – Lobster Pasta. Open now at St. Regis Gardens on the Palm Jumeirah.
Schmooze in Style at the New DRIFT Beach Cabanas
There are some new cabanas in town at upmarket DRIFT Beach with privacy and sophistication that’s second to none. The hidden gem has a deck next to a well maintained lawn, lounge area, and private changing facilities. You can book for you and your gang of up to ten guests and order food including Tuna Tartare, La Raviole and Steak Frites, while soaking up the views and sipping on premium beverages. Prices are AED 6,000 from Monday to Thursday and AED 9,000 from Friday to Sunday, with F&B on top of the rental fee.
Catch T-Pain in Abu Dhabi
If you’re a fan of the Florida hitmaker and R&B music then you should head to the capital on October 6th for a special concert at Etihad Arena celebrating the first ever NBA Appreciation Day. Expect beats from 4:30pm onwards from the winner of 6 Grammy Awards, and tracks like ‘Good Life’ and ‘Blame It.’ There’ll also be appearances by team mascots, the Mavericks Entertainment team, and a slam dunk contest for you to shoot your own hoops. Tickets from AED 50 from Ticketmaster.
Sip to Shore! McGettigans Weekly Boat Party
Celebrating the cooler weather, boat party season is back with a bang and where better to celebrate than the new McGettigan’s boat party. DIg out your bikinis and sailor hats and get ready to party, as the weekly Saturday event kicks off on October 7th and promises all the frivolity and fun of the pub venue – but in the sun, sand and sea. Get a welcome drink at the JLT venue before a bus takes you to Dubai Marina, and from 1-4pm you’ll party with 200 others, plys games, down unlimited drinks, and feast on their catered buffet spread. If you’re still standing you can head back to JLT later for a drunch for only AED 199. Boat party tickets are AED 299 all inclusive.
Dine at an AI Driven Restaurant Phenomenon Zenon
In Dubai you can dine in the sky, under the ocean, and in an immersive 3D experience, so we aren’t surprised that a new technology based dining option with AI (no less) has also popped up in the UAE. Called Zenon, there are cameras that capture every movement in the restaurant while their resident DJ’s headwear transforms this energy into digital artwork projected on the walls. Phew. There’s also fabulous dining options on offer including Mediterranean and Asian cuisine created by three chefs including Lorenzo Buccarini, who headed up the kitchen at L’Amo Bistro Del Mare in Dubai Harbour, Thomas Papas ex-chef at Nammos Group and sushi chef Tatsuya Ueda. Open from noon until 3am at The Address Dubai Mall Hotel.
