VIP Life – the 5 Most OTT Things to Do in Dubai
Experiences that are synonymous with everything you’ve heard about Dubai.
Dubai is the city of towering futuristic skyscrapers, indoor ski slopes in 50-degree heat, and where you can drive a supercar to breakfast and literally eat gold – so it’s no wonder this part of the world has a reputation for being completely over the top whilst attracting global elites and the glitterati. To cement this status, we’ve rounded up some of the city’s most VIP activities for you.
- Eat Gold – For Breakfast
There’s edible gold on coffees and in cafes, but at Joe’s Cafe in Dubai Mall, you can enjoy 24-carat gold pancakes, gold French toast or even gold leaf-topped granola. If that wasn’t boujee enough, you can sample your decadent breakfast while checking out views of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. Prices start at a most reasonable AED 125.
- Haute Cuisine and Immersive Dining
Gastro-theatre has been a trend in Dubai for a few years, but each venue promises to out-do the former, and newcomer KRASOTA at The Address Downtown combines “visual art, haute cuisine, and advanced technology” in their unique dining location. With seating limited to just 20 guests, it’s intimate and impactful, showcasing art from the 19th and 20th century while you munch your way through eight courses. Prices start at AED 1,830 per person and shows are at 3pm, 6pm, and 9pm daily.
- Swim in the World’s Highest Infinity Pool
The absolutely dreamy and much-documented infinity pool Aura at the Palm Tower promises incredible views for the ‘gram, as well as poolside yoga, events, and a yummy food and beverage menu with Asian bites. Views cover the Palm Jumeirah and are particularly spectacular at sunset, even if you have to fight other guests for the prime spots. Open daily between 6am-11pm with entry from AED 250.
- Rent a Lamborghini and Cruise down Sheikh Zayed Road
A trip to the UAE wouldn’t be complete without a supercar experience, and fortunately there are tons of places to rent your choice of beast-on-wheels, and spend a couple of hours zooming down major highways and disturbing the peace. You can pick up your own sweet motor for anywhere between AED 2,500 and AED 10,000 for a few hours, and our favourite is to contact a concierge company and get them to organise it for you – check out Dubai by Devarnio for bookings.
- Enjoy a 7-Hour Spa Treatment with Personal Chauffeur
The spa at the Versace Palazzo Hotel has the treatment of your dreams called The Ultimate, which includes five of their most luxurious spa services, and even includes a chauffeur driven car to pick you up and drop you to your home later. Starting at 10am for a breakfast at Giardino Restaurant, then the Signature Hammam, followed by the Ceremonial Massage, and a two-course lunch served either at Vanitas (their Italian restaurant) or at your leisure by the pool. In the afternoon you’ll head back to the spa for a Rejuvenating Rose Facial, plus a blow dry and mani-pedi while sipping on a glass of champagne (or mocktail) before being whisked home in absolute luxury. This treatment requires you to splash the cash however, as it’s priced at AED 4,500.
