The Insider Reviews: Geales’ Easy Roast Sundays
There’s a new Best Roast Dinner contender on the scene.
We often see posts on the popular social media group pages asking for recommendations for a Sunday roast. And the British tend to get very passionate about recommending their favourites. Well, we have found a new contender that we predict will soon be filling up the comments – Geales’ Easy Roast Sundays.
This newcomer to the Sunday roast scene ticks all the boxes; delicious food, live entertainment, an expansive children’s play area and seaside views.
Let’s start with the children’s play area—an amenity that not only delights the little ones but also offers respite for adults seeking a leisurely Sunday afternoon. Nestled within the sunken grassy area, the children’s play space unfolds with multiple pop-up tents, each brimming with an array of activities. From whimsical face painting sessions to engaging arts and crafts, and classic games like skittles, there’s no shortage of entertainment to captivate young minds. And guess what? There’s even an ice cream van just for the little ones (though adults can sneak a cone if they ask nicely). Plus, the buffet spread is top-notch, with homemade treats like chicken bites, mac and cheese, and fresh fruit to balance out the sweets.
For the adults, the seating is inside or on the terrace area where the resident band, a talented duo called Emily and Tim sing a variety of acoustic covers, providing the perfect ambience for a relaxing Sunday in the sun.
As the culinary journey unfolds, starters are served in a sharing style, showcasing a medley of traditional British favourites. From the timeless elegance of prawn cocktail to the rich flavours of Chicken Liver Pâté with Pear Piccalilli and the delicate crunch of Scotch Quail Eggs with Grain Mustard, each dish exudes freshness and finesse.
Moving on to the main course, diners are presented with a tantalising selection that includes roast sirloin of beef, lemon butter roast chicken, or rosemary and garlic studded leg of lamb, accompanied by an assortment of trimmings. Opting for the lamb and beef, we were met with succulent meats and delectable sides, with a standout being the charred cauliflower cheese—a delightful fusion of flavours and textures.
Although we didn’t have much room left for dessert, we tasted a bit of everything. From the zesty tang of lemon meringue pie to the indulgent decadence of chocolate and hazelnut, and the refreshing bitterness of rhubarb and custard crumble, we were glad it was sharing style as we couldn’t choose a favourite.
The beverage selection was also great, while the service remained impeccable from start to finish, ensuring a seamless dining experience. We would highly recommend this as your new Sunday hangout and the perfect spot to enjoy a wholesome Sunday afternoon with your family and friends.
