The countdown to the UAE’s first big public holiday of 2025 is on!
Eid Al Fitr is fast approaching, bringing with it a well-earned break to celebrate the end of Ramadan.
The UAE government has confirmed at least three official days off, with an extra day if Ramadan extends to 30 days. Since Ramadan began on Saturday, March 1, we can estimate the holiday dates:
- If Ramadan lasts 29 days, Eid Al Fitr would begin on Sunday, March 30, meaning public holidays on March 30, 31, and April 1—creating a four-day weekend.
- If Ramadan extends to 30 days, Eid would start on Monday, March 31, with holidays from March 31 to April 2, giving a five-day weekend.
As always, the official dates will be confirmed closer to the time based on moon sightings.
What is Eid Al Fitr?
Eid Al Fitr, meaning “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” marks the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting and reflection. It’s one of the most significant celebrations in Islam, observed with family gatherings, feasts, and acts of charity.
