Surf’s Up in Bahrain: Club Hawaii Experience is Making Waves in the Desert

Wax up your board and don’t forget your shades because Bahrain’s about to make a tidal wave of fun.

Set against the golden shores of Bilaj Al Jazayer, this wave-making watery wonderland is poised to become Bahrain’s hottest new tourist magnet. Complete with surf safaris, sundowners, and sun-drenched selfies, Bahrain Surf Park is more than a thrilling ride; it’s a bold new chapter in the Kingdom’s leisure and lifestyle story.

In a splashy new development (pun fully intended and we’re not sorry), Edamah – the real estate arm of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company – and GFH Financial Group have officially broken ground on what’s set to be the Middle East’s trendiest surf destination: the Bahrain Surf Park – Club Hawaii Experience.

Yes, you read that right. Surfboards in the sand and full Aloha vibes in the Arabian Gulf. And this won’t be just kiddie pool waves either: this is cutting-edge, pro-surfer-level technology with enough stoke to make even a Hawaiian surf pro do a double take.

The incredible new surf park is part of a 1.5 million-square-metre beachfront masterplan.

Set along the southwest coast at Bilaj Al Jazayer, the Surf Park is part of a mega 1.5 million-square-metre beachfront masterplan. The park alone sprawls across a breezy 52,000 square metres, complete with wave pools, palm-fringed terraces, cabanas, retail boutiques, restaurants, and even a dedicated Club Hawaii Academy to school you from zero to surf hero.

Take the kids to the Club Hawaii Academy so they can become surfing stars.

Speaking at the groundbreaking event which was attended by a wave of VIPs including H.E. Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Mr. Hisham Al Rayes of GFH, and surf-loving dignitaries, Edamah’s team was all smiles (and maybe already picking out their wetsuits).

This project is a game-changer for Bahrain,” said H.E. Shaikh Abdulla, who called it a bold step toward future-ready tourism and lifestyle development. “We’re not just building waves, we’re building a vibrant, sustainable, and exciting community.”

GFH’s CEO, Mr. Hisham Al Rayes, added: “This isn’t just a surf park, it’s a vibe. Club Hawaii brings the soul of surfing to the Gulf in a way that’s never been done before.”

And the secret sauce behind the surf is a marvel of modern engineering: Wavegarden Cove technology imported from Spain. This next-gen system can pump out up to 1,000 perfect waves per hour, with varying heights and styles to suit grommets, casual cruisers, and competition-level shredders. It’s also one of the most eco-friendly systems of its kind, making it perfect for both thrill-seekers and the planet.

Sun-seekers can watch the eco-friendly wave action from the sumptuous beach loungers.

Mr. Khaled Abdulrahman Al Majed, CEO of Edamah said: “We are proud of our strategic partnership with GFHFinancial Group on this unique project. It will span over 52,000 square meters within the broader 1.5million-square-meter Bilaj Al Jazayer masterplan and will provide a range of activities, including training programs for beginners and professionals. In addition to positioning the Kingdom as a global destination for entertainment and leisure, it will create new opportunities for economic growth and the employment of national talent, supporting Bahrain’s vision to lead through innovation.

The lagoon alone can also host up to 90 surfers at once, and yes, you’ll still have room for that sunset selfie and won’t waste too much time in a lengthy queue.

Whether you’re a die-hard surfer, a beach bum in disguise, or just want a fun new reason to visit Bahrain, this is one spot you’ll want to take the whole gang to. Expect F&B joints, Insta-worthy vistas, epic events, and a chance to catch waves without the long-haul flight to Bali.
