Inside the UAE’s Most Ambitious Medical Prep Programme

Gulf Medical University welcomes 100 future doctors.

While most teens are still deciding between TikTok trends and uni majors, 100 high school students just completed Gulf Medical University’s intensive Aspire to Become a Doctor programme, emerging with stethoscopes in hand, confidence soaring, and eyes firmly set on the future.

Held annually at GMU’s world-class campus in Ajman, the week-long initiative offers ambitious teens a rare glimpse into the world of medicine, from donning lab coats and shadowing real doctors, to dissecting science in state-of-the-art labs. This isn’t your average career talk; it’s hands-on, high-impact, and designed to shape tomorrow’s healthcare leaders.

The response has been overwhelming. Applications flooded in from across the UAE and beyond, proof of GMU’s rising status as the region’s go-to hub for academic healthcare excellence.

This programme gives students early insight into the rigour, rewards, and real-world experience of a healthcare career,” said Prof. Manda Venkatramana, Acting Chancellor. “It sparks clarity and confidence at a crucial age.”

With global partnerships, teaching hospitals, and a fast-expanding academic offering—from Medicine to Physiotherapy—GMU isn’t just responding to the global demand for doctors. It’s shaping the next generation.

Applications for the 2025 academic year are now open. Future doctors, this is your call. www.gmu.ac.ae
