The RTA is set to launch airborne taxis in 2025.
Get ready to take to the skies—Dubai’s futuristic flying taxis are set to launch by the end of 2025, offering a quick and affordable way to travel between the city’s most iconic landmarks. In collaboration with the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, JOBY Aviation, and Skyports Infrastructure, these air taxis will take off from four key locations: Dubai International Airport, Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina, and Palm Jumeirah.
With flights expected to be as common as hailing a bus, Dubai will soon become the first city in the world to offer inner-city air transport. Joby Aviation has already begun the certification process, and once approved, these electric air taxis will carry a pilot and four passengers at speeds of up to 200 miles per hour, making the journey from DXB to Palm Jumeirah in just 10 minutes. Best of all, tickets are expected to cost around the same as an Uber Black ride but with much shorter travel times.

Environmentally friendly and quiet, these electric flying taxis will operate between 1,000 and 3,000 feet, allowing you to stay connected to your mobile phone during the flight. And if you’re concerned about the skies getting crowded, fear not—traffic jams up there are unlikely, as only a limited number of vehicles will be airborne at once. As testing continues in the UAE and California, Dubai is gearing up to welcome the future of transportation with open arms.
