After a sunny start to the morning the clouds suddenly rolled in and the wind whipped up a moderate sandstorm, reducing visibility and making it difficult to be outside. The change in weather started at around 11am with heavy rains from the Eastern region pushing a weather front across the rest of the country.
UAE authorities issued a weather warning to motorists and those that are working outside. Driving on the roads during rain and sandstorms can be extremely dangerous with visibility reduced. Rain is forecast to be scattered across different parts of the country throughout the next 24 hours.
Emirati authorities issued a nationwide warning urging residents to remain vigilant.
“Abu Dhabi Police urges drivers to be cautious due to low visibility during high winds and dust,” the police force tweeted, as residents took to social media to publish photos and videos.
Stay safe out there!
