Shorter workdays for all employees.
Dubai has officially announced Ramadan working hours for all employees across the public and private sectors, with a reduced schedule in place throughout the holy month.
When Does Ramadan Start?
Based on moon sightings, Ramadan is expected to begin on Saturday, March 1, 2025. Once the month officially begins, working hours across Dubai and the UAE will be adjusted.
The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources confirmed the schedule for public sector workers, while the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) outlined the details for private sector employees. These shorter work hours are designed to support those who are fasting but apply to all employees, regardless of religion.
Private Sector: Shorter Days & Flexible Options
- Private sector employees will have their workday reduced by two hours throughout Ramadan.
- Depending on the nature of their work, some employees may also have the option for flexible or remote working arrangements.
- These changes are in line with Federal Decree Law No. (33) of 2021, which regulates working hours across the UAE during Ramadan.
Public Sector: Official Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 9AM – 2:30PM
- Friday: 9AM – 12PM
- Certain roles may have different schedules depending on job requirements.
- Federal entities can offer flexible work arrangements, including the option for remote work on Fridays.
As Ramadan approaches, both public and private sector employees can look forward to shorter workdays while continuing their professional commitments during the holy month.
