We thought it was high time another staycation was in order, and chose one of Dubai’s original luxury hotels that proved to be in a class of its own.
Enduringly handsome it holds its own in the presence of the mighty Burj Khalifa. Address Downtown is a luxurious, city lifestyle resort set in the prestigious Downtown Dubai area, just a pleasant amble away from the cultural Opera District and the Dubai Mall. The hotel is uniquely positioned, boasting world-class views of the magnificent Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountains.
A breathtaking tower, gracefully shaped like an aerofoil, stands as a testament to opulence and refinement, evident in its thoughtfully chosen materials, exquisite artworks, and resplendent chandeliers. Within its walls, a sensory feast awaits, where the interiors seamlessly blend timeless elegance with the requirements of a contemporary hotel. The lobby itself exudes a playful charm, as a magnificent glass globe chandelier glistens amidst the ethereal, unbroken stretches of marble, permeated by the alluring scent of vetiver and cedar – unique to the hotel’s distinctive aroma.
Excited and heading to our suite, we walked through the lobby that’s akin to an enchanted garden, where the walls and floors are clad in marble with beveled crystal sconces and chandeliers draped everywhere. The furnishings are sleek, the artworks and fashion gems are abundant. Dotting the space are hanging, installation paper sculptures, hand-painted in tones of pink, blue and green lending to a gardenesque feel.
The superbly designed, Executive Suite Fountain View Room, oozes understated luxury. It is perfect for those who have much to relish with uninterrupted views of Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain from the terrace. Below us, the sapphire blue water of the hotel pool scintillates in the Dubai sun, with fronds of palm trees shading the daybeds that line the poolside. The room features wood and marble accents in neutral tones of grey, white and blue with a king-size bed in crisp linens. The bathroom is done up with a rain shower, bathtub, vanity and dressing area, stocked with Lorenzo Villoresi Firenze toiletries and the latest Dyson Supersonic hair dryer. Another thing worth mentioning about the room is the tech aspect to it. You’ll get a tablet in your room, where you can easily make bookings and see menus for the hotel’s restaurants, etc.
It was late afternoon and we wanted to make the most of our time by the pool and have a bit of lunch. As we wander through the lush tropical foliage that sets the tone of a hidden idyllic getaway, it opens up to the awe-inspiring sight of the world’s tallest building and its magnificent, grandiose fountains. The scale of the infinity pool, overlooking the illustrious Burj, was nothing short of extraordinary. It comprised various sections, each tailored to cater to different preferences. Abound were cabanas, adorned with billowy curtains, and generously cushioned loungers, each accompanied by its own private shade. Moreover, the pool menu was crafted to satiate even the most discerning palates.
Following a leisurely romp by the pool, we resolved to bask in the mesmerising vistas of the sunset from our expansive terrace, from the sanctuary of our suite. Once more, we beheld the awe-inspiring panorama, allowing a profound sense of gratitude to envelop us. Prior to our evening meal, we made our way to the resplendent haven known as The Spa at Address Downtown. Adorned with a captivating crystal chandelier, this sanctuary boasted nine exquisite treatment rooms, serene relaxation areas, a rejuvenating Hammam, a soothing steam room, and a signature spa suite. As we arrived, a revitalising elixir of cucumber, lemon, and mint awaited us, refreshing our senses. For the next blissful 90 minutes, we surrender ourselves to the skilled hands of the masseurs, as they expertly kneaded away our stresses and soothingly alleviated any muscular discomfort. The body oils infused with the essence of sandalwood, jasmine, and patchouli worked their magic, leaving us feeling profoundly rested, rejuvenated, and ravenous, eager to savour our upcoming meal.
Then instead of getting all dressed up to go for dinner we opted to call for in-room dining, cocooned in our plush robes, we luxuriated in the continued bliss following our rejuvenating massage. It seemed absolutely ideal to have our famished tummies catered to within the opulent confines of our exquisite suite, complete with an elegant in-room dining trolley, adorned with gleaming silver-domed dinnerware. Our palates were treated to an exquisite presentation of flawlessly chilled, delicate oysters, accompanied by the velvety texture of burrata cheese and the succulent sweetness of tomatoes, elegantly adorned with a drizzle of balsamic vinaigrette. Alongside, the finely sliced bresaola carpaccio showcased its rich flavours, while the marinated miso cod tantalise your taste buds with its delightful infusion of taste. We were enormously satisfied and satiated.
In the morning, following a restful slumber, we descended to The Restaurant at Address Downtown for breakfast. The establishment embraced a captivating and innovative concept, where impeccably adorned spaces mirrored the ambiance of an opulent residential abode, creating an inviting atmosphere for indulging in international cuisine. The assortment of freshly baked pastries beckoned temptingly, tempting us to sample each delectable creation. The vibrant display of sliced, ripe fruits proved irresistibly tantalising, as did the enticing array of salads and charcuterie. Our order consisted of exquisitely prepared smoked salmon eggs Benedict, delightfully adorned with a perfectly runny consistency, and the savoury Masala Dosa, both of these creations reaffirms the notion that dishes like these are best left to the skilled hands of a chef.
Address Downtown impressively delivers on every front, from the perfect location, the blunt beauty of the hotel and impeccable service from the entire staff showcase their commitment to excellence. Even the valet service goes above and beyond, providing thoughtful touches like individual wipes placed in your car, allowing you to sanitise surfaces if desired.
