There’s a New Golden Visa in Dubai

Dubai has expanded its coveted golden visa program, with a brand new category of eligibility announced on Saturday, October 5, in honour of World Teachers’ Day. The updated rules now open the door for exceptional teachers to qualify for the long-term residency visa.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, made the announcement under the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The golden visa offers long-term residency in Dubai and the UAE, eliminating the need for regular renewals and the challenges of traditional visa processes. This new category specifically targets outstanding educators who have demonstrated excellence and made significant contributions to Dubai’s private education sector.

Eligible candidates include teachers from private early childhood centres, schools, and higher education institutions in Dubai. Those interested in applying are encouraged to visit the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) for more details.

Sheikh Hamdan emphasised the deep respect Dubai holds for its educators, stating: “On the occasion of World Teachers’ Day, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all teachers and educators. We deeply value their mission and the invaluable role they play in shaping minds, nurturing future generations, and driving the progress of nations. Today, we celebrate their dedication and achievements, which not only define our present but also lay the foundation for a prosperous future.”

The introduction of the golden visa for teachers aligns with Dubai’s Education 33 strategy, aiming to make the city a top destination for outstanding educators. This announcement follows another recent milestone—the declaration of a new national holiday, Emirati Day for Education, to be observed annually on February 28, commemorating the UAE’s educational progress and the first batch of teachers to graduate under the leadership of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in 1982.
