His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum initiated the aid.
In response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has directed the delivery of 68.4 metric tonnes of essential medical supplies to the region.
The mission, led by Dubai Humanitarian in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), aims to provide life-saving aid to over 600,000 individuals in urgent need of medical assistance. The supplies were sent via a Boeing 747 from the Dubai Royal Air Wing, departing on January 16, 2025, through Al Arish, Egypt.
His Excellency Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Chairman of Dubai Humanitarian, emphasized the UAE’s ongoing commitment to supporting Gaza, stating, “This airbridge, operational since the crisis began, reflects the compassion and solidarity that guide us under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.” He highlighted the mission’s focus on delivering swift and critical aid to those most in need.
Dr. Richard Peeperkorn, WHO Representative for the occupied Palestinian territory, expressed gratitude for the UAE’s generosity, noting that the supplies, including nutrition treatments, trauma care, surgical materials, and primary healthcare essentials, are vital for maintaining health services in Gaza. The shipment also includes tents to expand hospital capacity, addressing the growing healthcare demand in the region.
This collaborative effort underscores the power of unity in providing timely, life-saving aid under the most challenging circumstances.
