The iconic shopping brand is closer than ever to coming to the UAE!
The rumour mill has been buzzing since last September, when Alshaya Group dropped the kind of news that makes fashion-forward bargain hunters sit up and take notice: the beloved Irish high-street brand Primark could soon be landing in the Middle East.
On Thursday, September 5th, 2024, retail giant Alshaya Group confirmed a strategic partnership with Primark to “explore opportunities to bring its stores to the Middle East.” Cue a frenzy on social media, with fans across the region manifesting their first Dubai Primark shopping spree.
John Hadden, CEO of Alshaya Group, said:
“We are incredibly proud to partner with Primark to discuss potential opportunities to bring their stores to the region. For many years, shoppers across the Middle East have asked for Primark—and we’re looking forward to creating a successful partnership that brings their exceptional in-store experience to the GCC.”
With more than 450 stores worldwide, Primark has built its name on serving up trend-led fashion, homeware, beauty, kidswear and accessories at famously wallet-friendly prices. It’s a mainstay on Europe’s high streets—and long overdue in the region.
So, when’s it arriving in Dubai?
While plenty of whispers suggest Primark will be popping up in some of Dubai’s biggest malls, Alshaya has yet to confirm any UAE location. What’s On can confirm that Kuwait will get the region’s first Primark store, with Dubai to follow after. So yes, it’s happening—just not quite yet.
