Following the unprecedented rainfall in UAE history, Dubai’s roads are experiencing significant water accumulation, prompting authorities to urge residents to stay home unless absolutely necessary. For those venturing out, it’s essential to exercise caution and be aware of the current road conditions. While efforts are underway to maintain traffic flow on major routes, drivers should anticipate delays and exercise patience.
Taxi services and public buses are operational but may experience delays in reaching their destinations. The Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai has provided updates on accessible roads, although some may only be partially open. Overall, it’s advised to prioritise safety and avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve.

In response to the unprecedented rainfall, the United Arab Emirates National Centre for Meteorology has confirmed that the country experienced its worst-ever weather event. In light of this, the Government of Dubai has taken proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of residents. The private sector has been urged to implement work-from-home policies until the end of the week, while government employees will also remain at home unless involved in relief efforts.
Additionally, Dubai’s private schools, nurseries, and universities will continue to remain closed, with distance learning facilitated by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). Efforts by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) are underway to address the traffic disruptions caused by the storm and restore smooth traffic flow across the city.
