The Burj Al Arab helipad is quite the place to be. Anthony Joshua, Tiger Woods, Roger Federer and Andre Agassi have all graced it in one form or another
Now the helipad takes on a more elite positioning and offers an art exhibition called ‘The Art Maze’
Who is going to be the artist we hear you say? Well, that will be Sacha Jafri. Will it be an actual maze? Well yes but a smaller one as you might imagine. There will be a steel ‘maze’ constructed by Marcus Schaefer who himself is an artist
How can you get there? As you might expect its invitation only, but you can see it on social media channels and via VR and AR. Why is it happening? its game on to celebrate the 50th anniversary of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites and it will run from Wednesday March 23 to Sunday March 27. You can expect to see 30 oil and acrylic paintings that depict 30 World Heritage sites looking to reconnect people with culture.
The Burj Al Arab show is another career highlight for Jafri who last year created the world’s largest painting on canvas, The Journey of Humanity. Later in 2022, he will partner with NASA CLPS (Commercial Lunar Payload Services) to place the first official artwork on the moon.
“In a world where the metaverse is becoming more of a reality, and where online and physical living is fully integrated, this project is about reconnecting humanity to the beauty that surrounds us by re-establishing links with our heritage and cultural history,” said Jafri. “The Art Maze will be a first-of-its-kind-concept where art meets architecture and technology.”
